As you may know, Medicare is issuing Medicare Recipients with NEW Medicare numbers.
Medicare has started replacing your Medicare number, that is currently based on Social Security number, with a totally new Medicare number.
You will be getting a new card in the mail, with a new, Medicare number that is unique to you.
Medicare started sending the new Medicare cards in April 2018, and it will take up to 12 months to replace all Medicare recipients cards reflecting their new numbers.
Since Medicare is mailing the new cards over a period of time, you most likely will receive your card at a different time that your friends or your spouse.
Once you receive your new card, please destroy your old Medicare card and start using it right away.
If you are on a Medicare Advantage plan, you will not need to present your new Medicare card when you receive services. Please put your new Medicare card in a safe place.
If you would like more information about your new Medicare card, please contact Medicare directly.
